PICNIC BLANKET
This 2 sided Picnic Blanket serves as not only a blanket to sit on at the park but an interactive ice breaker, a way of connecting to others, a cook book, a way to move, and an art piece to admire.
Rules for the blanket: Laying out the blanket wherever your desired picnic shall take place, each person will have a pair of dice that will act as the number of squares your will move around the board in whatever desired direction you choose. The person standing will be the one asking the questions to the people sitting on the blanket. Each square has different “get to know you” questions and or direction to follow. The foods that are illustrated on the picnic each have their own recipe card that are shown below.
There were many different ideas and rough drafts of various names, styles, fonts, logos, colors, and products to contain all this information. I started out wanting this to represent different cultures to where each picnic blanket made would be dedicated to a specific culture and the different foods. From the idea of an apron, tote bag, to little wooden boxes, I finally chose a picnic blanket because of the social element it brings forth. This was an incredible fun product to work on because of its process and because of the element of interacting with an art-piece.
